A Day in Fira
Lost | And | Found
(Written on the road)
Between teaching while abroad, writing, traveling, documenting my journey and starting a new venture, I find myself exhausted. My days have been full. But so is my heart. I have met so many amazing people so far who have touched and inspired me along the way. Early yesterday morning, I came across a woman on the beach. She was crying as she watched the sunset. Concerned, I approached. Immediately, she opened up. She said she has cancer. Her doctor told her she has about a month left to live. For the first time she is taking nothing for granted, but finds herself determined to overcome her circumstance. I met a woman from Manchester who, at 56 years of age, is traveling alone for the 4th time in her life. Her husband left her for another woman after 33 years of marriage. Since her divorce was finalized earlier this year, Greece has been the 4th place she has travelled on her own while she “tries to find herself again.” I met a 35-year old woman from Korea who, as I was taking pictures, asked if I’d take hers too. She quit her corporate job this year because it was sucking her dry. “I had no life. I worked day and night.” She now wants to start her own trading company but is taking time to rediscover herself before she takes the plunge. I have listened to their stories, documented them and taken their pictures. Throughout, it has never ceased to amaze me how vital it is to one’s growth and self-empowerment for everyone to lose her way. In order to find it again.

Taking a short break from exploring and snapping.

Back at it.

And night.

Black | White | Blue 🇬🇷
Loved the blues and whites that match the Greek flag. Talk about national pride. It was wonderful to encounter these gorgeous colors perched both high and low, but I aimed to go high. When you reach the summit of any destination, remember to bask in your own glory. Often. Especially if you’ve made that trek in a dress and after half a day spent filming the oldest, most magnificent wine cellar turned wine museum/art gallery in Santorini. And are feeling tipsy about life, and its possibilities.

Thank you, Art Space Santorini. Whilst in Santorini, try the Vin Santo grape known to this region, and visit this incredible cellar. Don't forget to pick up a bottle or 2 or 3 or 15 of the liquid heaven they produce.
